Cherry Tree

WALK 45 ñ PRINCES RISBOROUGH TO GT MISSENDEN

I gazed upon the Cherry tree

that stood forlorn, alone,

the fruit has been borne, its leaves are shed

its life has left, its gone.

I saw a pheasant  dead on the path

I wondered how it died,

it looked so peaceful just lying there

and inwardly I cried.

And I stood upon the grass that grew

and thought about the friends I knew

and all that lives will see life through

and do be good and do be true.

For from death comes life

I hope and pray,

the cherry tree will have a say

It may be dead in winter months

but when spring gives birth it will display.

The pheasant too dies not in vain

I believe with all my heart

Itís natures way to keep life strong

and give us a new fresh start.

So when people die and slip away

their memories linger on

and the longer they remain within our thoughts

their lives will lead us on.
