Searching

Searching for peace and tranquillity

In a world that’s full of sound

Is difficult, if not impossible

I wander all around

Looking for some space

To pause and reflect myself

To think things through, just me alone

All minds are full of wealth.

But today I have been driven mad

It really makes me sad

Silence and quiet just can’t be found

It really is quite bad

To go hiking with a walking group

Of many not the few

The tittle-tattle of pointless chat

The question “how are you?”.

So I come to the site upon Leith Hill

With a beautiful and magical view

But the dogs they bark and their owners chat

Noise, it spoils the view.

Then I lay upon the path I walked

And silence is the word

Apart from the rustling leaves in nearby woods

And the singing birds in the trees.

They’re the sounds I love to hear

It’s nature's wonderful ear

What’s that? The noise of a motor car?

Oh bloody hell, I fear.

A horse now trots up on the road

The rider holds the reins

Clop-clop clop-clip it sings along

The sound is melodic to the brain.

In truth I fear it must be said

I rather prefer it read

That noise is heard all the time

But we need to clear our head

Of interference and pointless sound

That follow us around

Clear vision and a direct route

Our own, it nust be found,
