UK rail bridges and viaducts to walk over
Long, high or interesting rail bridges and viaducts you can walk over. Plus a few canal aqueducts as well.
They are graded from 1 to 5 to give an idea of how worth a trip they are.
There are many more which have no public access.
The bridges and viaducts
Overseas
Not in the UK are
- Myra Canyon (Kettle Valley Railroad) walk near Kelonwa in BC, Canada with 18 wooden trestle bridges, 2 steel bridges, 2 tunnels, and bears :)
- Walk over the Hudson (Poughkeepsie Bridge ) not far from New York City, USA - at 2 miles long, the 2nd longest pedestrian bridge in the world
- In Prague, you can walk over the impressive modern 42 m high Nusle bridge that carries metro lineC beneath it connecting Vyšehrad and I.P Pavlova. (pleasant views of the frequent mainline trains and trams in the valley far below). Nearby, but a long way down, if you want to get closer to said trains the 200 metre long Železniční most carries trains and a footway across the Vltava to and from Smichov.
