No Fear Bay - near Plymouth
Cornwall (south coast)
low-tide only access sandy bay set back from the shoreline with many rocky outcrops and pools
Located in Whitsand Bay, West of Plymouth
Getting there:
PL10 1JT
From the B3247 take the Military Road at Fort Tregantle, there is a pay and display car park for Sharrow Beach on the left after half a mile. £6 / day in 2024. From the car park there is a steep path that leads down to Sharrow, tide allowing you can then walk West past the two bays of Sharrow and then a third called Boat Bay. No Fear Bay is the next one along but is only accessible at low water on spring tides (about 3 days out of every 2 weeks)
There is a car park by the fort (also £6/day in 2024), just before it is a free layby. From here you'd have to follow the (very nice) coast path for about 1 mile.
Description
No Fear Bay is a deep cut into the cliffs under Military Road, there is lots of open sandy beach at low tide but be careful not to be cut off on the rising tide as it comes into the gently sloping bay very quickly. Lots of interesting rock pools and even some large pools that get warm in sunny weather
Facilities
Two lifeguard stations flank the bay, one at Sharrow and the second at Tregantle, these are not open all year but you can get great advice about tide etc from them when they are open. The lifeguards are aware that the bay is naturist friendly and are used to visits by nudists. Nearby villages of Cawsand and Millbrook have shops etc and there is plenty of holiday accommodation in the area

Fort Tregantle Firing Range
This is west of No Fear Bay. It has live firing at random times, sometimes daily, sometimes not for 2 weeks. If the range is open, there is a path down to a beach.
