Walk Notes |
The Offa's Dyke path was inspired by the dyke (earth wall) built by King Offa of Mercia in the 8th Century to keep out the Welsh. It follows it for much of the way crossing the England-Wales border 20 times along the way. It starts near Chepstow in the south and follows the River Wye to Monmouth, the Hatterall ridge in the Brecon Beacons national park to Hay on Wye, the Shropeshire and Clwyd hills With the Wales Coast Path, Offa's Dyke form a complete Wales Border Path
