5 started quite a bit delayed due to some gremlins on the Piccadilly Line in cold but dry weather.
There were quite a number of muddy stretches, all short in nature, but combined with our sparing use of head torches, a bit of awareness came in handy, especially as most were just wearing trainers.
The fenced path after the crossing of the single track railway was a tad overgrown with brambles, so we walked parallel to it through the 'Nature Reserve' (which looks like an ex-landfill?), and at The Hare & Hounds, votes were cast whether we should stop here (20 minutes before the end) or at the end. In we went.
Food delivery was a bit perplexing (i.e. 3 main courses, ordered at the same time, came about 20 minutes apart), but it is a nice pub with friendly staff, so all is forgiven.
1 then walked to a bus stop for his long-ish journey back home, while 4 walked on to Osterley tube.
Intend going
8 on time, 1 other delayed, 1 other more delayed (both due to an earlier Jubilee Line suspension), i.e. 10 in warm and sticky weather.
Nice walking along the River Brent/Grand Union Canal (they are the same waterbody on this stretch) and across a lock, then there is a 3 minute stretch of rather claustrophobic path parallel to an indistrial single track railway line and a bit of M4 noise, and then some actually quite interesting semi-wilderness. The pub (Fuller's) is quite good, about half of people ordered a meal, eaten outside under the Heathrow flight path. 4 moved on after a drink to beat the darkness, the rest kind of achieved that as well.
Oh, we saw a large herd of albino cows...
Intend going.
5 or 6 on this walk. 3 of those were on today's outing of this very walk, and they could name 2 others who had been as well, but couldn't agree on a 6th...
Intend going.
Hope to go on this. For future reference, doing the walk in reverse and having The Fox Hanwell as the pub would be better.
