Thu, 05-Dec-24
3 walkers (including 2 local-ish ones) started about on time, with 1 other 5 or 10 minutes behind. It was raining lightly as we made our way through the residential streets towards Barn Hill but was then raining hard on the ascent up it and for quite some time after.
Head torches were only needed though to look at the map or the directions, else the refracted light under the clouds was good enough to see paths, obstacles and views.
The late starter, despite following the text directions and therefore 'the route', somehow ended up ahead of the early starters (had they gotten l**t, by any chance?) and therefore reached the usual haunt at the end of the walk (Bombay Spice) first. All 4 had a meal, after a walk in mostly hard rain
Thursday 09-Mar-23
Tea: On the main drag, there are several Sub-Continental restaurants, a Wetherspoon’s (J.J. Moon’s) and then there’s the Roisin Dubh, a tiny Irish bar just off the Kingsbury Circle on Fryent Way.

5 walkers despite the forecast (and reality) of mainly rainy weather.
Once we were off the pavement and into the Country Park, it was surprisingly quite muddy in most places, although not deeply so. From teh top of Barn Hill, and despite the drizzle/light rain, we had some half-decent views of Wembley Stadium and assorted building site cranes in the distance. Down the hill then (where one slid onto her side) and across the A road. A minority interest wanted to cut out the south easterly loop and follow the Capital Ring instead on this section, so we obliged. All 5 then went to Bombay Spice Nashta House for a wholesome meal.

An all-male group of 6 on this walk in pleasant weather.
I hadn't done this walk before myself... Fine viewpoints from the two hills en route (Wembley Stadium, Harrow-on-the-Hill). Lots of buttercup meadows. A trigpoint at 86m above sea...
We finished with a tasty vegetarian meal at an Indian restaurant, accompanied by some excellent Kenyan lager (and why not?). After that, it was still only 21.30, so time and space for another sip were there. 2 argued for a dark Irish bar (Roisin Dubh), but they were outvoted by the Spoon's brigade. And who can argue much at £2.19 for a pint...

A record breaking 8 on this evening walk in fine summer evening conditions . The route follows the capital ring for a spell and quickly emerges into open parkland with a few modest hills offering great views far and wide, made particularly lovely with the setting sun....Six went to the pub for dinner and/or drinks....A lovely evening out....
