In Memoriam
Nicholas Albery, 1948 - 2001
Nicholas wrote the Time Out Book of Country Walks near London. It was unique in 3 ways:
- It was public transport orientated - every walk started and finished at a train station
- The walks featured detailed step by step directions rather than relying on a map
- It had a self-organising "Saturday Walking Club". The book has a yearly walk rota for each Saturday of the year, together with a train to catch, so anyone could buy the book, and go for a walk with anyone else who brought it and turned up at the suggested time
Nicholas went on many of these walks. Sadly, he died in a car accident in 2001.
