River Wey Navigation : Webridge to Godalming Bike Ride

Riverside path - 2 stretches of picturesque open countryside separated by historic Guildford

Length 19.2 miles ( 30.9 km)
Toughness 2 / 10 - some narrow bits
Off Road 95% - just the start and finish
Features

This routes follows a canal towpath - the Wey Navigation.

It starts at the Thames by Weybridge (train station about 1km south). Passing through narrow lanes at first (it may be better to use residential streets at the start), and then along a narrow towpath, it soon widens. After a few miles it passes under the M25 and leave surburbia behind.

Just past the M25, near Byfleet and New Haw (station), the canal splits - one branch becomes the Woking canal.

The main route passes West Byfleet (train station) and continues south, past Pyford Lock (NT visitor centre, pub) and the ruins of Newark Priory to Guildford (train station).

Just past Guildford, it meeet the North Downs Way (the section to the east towards Dorking may be cycled with care) and Downs Link (all the way to the south coast) routes.

The tow path finishes in Godalming (train station).

Note: this path is really aimed at walkers, not cyclists, so please behave graciously towards them.
