This was another very decent 12.6 mile walk in the West Berkshire Downs, part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was aided and abetted by some outstanding April weather!

The walk includes some lovely woodland scenes, with Celandines and Bluebells in abundance. There's commons, chalk streams and some ancient churches, with lunch being had at the Grade 1 listed St Denys, in Stanford Dingley.

Thereafter, it's across one of the largest commons in the South East, Bucklebury, and across some of its heathland, a very rare habitat these days.

The finale involves a section of walking alongside the Kennet and Avon 'canal'.

A very nice walk indeed, in a very pleasant part of the South East.

Note the plethora of bird song throughout this walk, reflecting the rich diversity of plant and wild life in this area. Very uplifting!
