A very pleasant 10 miles, on a decent May afternoon, between the castle town of Arundel and Goring-by-Sea, West Sussex.

The route follows familiar terrain initially, beside the River Arun, and then enters Angmering Park (part of the original Norfolk Estate) for a variety of open valley, mixed woodland and farmland walking.

Lunch is had at St John the Divine church, Patching, but a pub option exists a bit further on past the village.

After a noisy stretch beside the busy A27, there's more woodland prior to arrival at Highdown Hill, with its Iron Age hill fort and some good views. Then, there's the option of a short walk around Highdown Gardens, an unusual chalk garden.

Finally, it's on to the station, or, a circuit of Goring and its stony beach.

A very good walk today, with a few muddy sections still remaining. It never exceeds 263 feet, so isn't particularly challenging on the limbs.
