    The Greenford to Osterley walk is a popular Sunday excursion for those looking to get some fresh air and explore the beautiful green spaces around London. This scenic route takes you through the heart of West London, along the Grand Union Canal and past some of the area's most stunning parks and gardens.

    The walk starts in Greenford, a charming suburban area known for its tranquil streets and greenery. From here, the trail takes you along the Grand Union Canal, offering picturesque views of the water and the surrounding countryside. You'll also have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife, including ducks, swans, and other water birds.

    As you make your way towards Osterley, you'll come across the beautiful Osterley Park and House, a stunning 18th-century estate set in 200 acres of parkland. This historic site offers a glimpse into Georgian life and provides a perfect spot for a picnic or a stroll through the gardens.

    The walk ends in Osterley, a lively residential area known for its diverse range of shops and restaurants. Here, you can enjoy a delicious meal, catch up with friends, or simply relax after a long walk.

    The Greenford to Osterley walk is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some fresh air and exercise.     NOTA:

    Take the first train after 10.15am (departs at 10:33am at time of writing) from Paddington Station and change at West Ealing for the train to Greenford. Journey time around 30 minutes. On Sundays, there is no British Rail train service, but Greenford station can also be reached by London Underground. The return to London is by tube from Osterley. Both Greenford and Osterley are in Zone 4.

    Length: Around 12 km (7.5 miles), 3 hours, plus optional walking to explore Osterley Park. For the whole outing, including trains, sights and meals, allow up to 8 hours.

    Features: This walk offers a brisk stroll close to London. In the morning, after exploring the Brent River Park, there is a short section on the towpath of the Grand Union Canal, passing a series of locks and a point where road, rail and canal bridges pass over one another in an intriguing manner. After lunch, the walk passes through the grounds of Osterley, a stately home in West London run by the National Trust. A short final section allows for either an early finish or a visit to Osterley House and its the extensive grounds.
