A very decent 10.5 miles on the East Sussex/Kent border, on a grey, but quite balmy day, with little breeze.
Starting out from Hever station, the walker is immediately into the countryside and classic Wealden cattle pastures following the Eden Valley Walk. There's more of the same, and delightful woodland walking, all the way to lunch at St Mary Magdalene's Church, Cowden.
Thereafter, much the same again for the journey back to Ashurst station.
Very peaceful, save a few Gatwick jets, and pleasantly remote. A few busy road crossings, and the footpaths were, generally o.k today. One section, however, shortly after Lydens farm, was flooded.
There was the usual lack of path maintenance by Kent C.C observed on this walk, albeit they had put up path diversion notices.
