A decent enough local walk of 10.5 miles on a fair day, with a light breeze.

This variant is done in reverse, starting out from the market town of Hitchin, and following a 'highway' up to the village of Preston, via the Tatmore Hills, and the S.S.S.I of Wain Wood. A rare Cuckoo is heard here and there's s good spread of expiring Bluebells.

Passing the community-run pub in the village, the walker is soon in Hitch Wood, with more Bluebells past their best. Then, it's through the grounds of Stagenhoe for lunch at All Saints Church, St Pauls Walden (a pub option is close by). Here, the season's first House Martins are finally seen!

After lunch, the walker is soon joining the 'circular' version of this walk, with some duplication of images on that walk, albeit in reverse.

After a section of quiet lane walking, it's into another Bluebell wood (Graffidge) and then into Knebworth Park, where no deer were seen today.

The finale, is a long section of road walking for the train home.

Not bad! Some sections will be muddy at appropriate times, and jet-noise from Luton is never far away.

I filmed this video at 4K 25p. I used the natural profile, there is a slight crop as I used MIS-1 (which is the digital stabilisation and sensor stabilisation). The footage is not graded just straight out of the box.

Turns out that this 12 miler around Knebworth, on a decent Spring day, would be the last for the foreseeable. Just like 'Foot and Mouth' in 2001, this human borne illness has managed to effectively close down the countryside, save for local exercise walks. Let's hope this doesn't last too long and that all those reliant on the various income streams that the rural economy generates are up and running soon. Good health to you all!

This version of the walk is the clock-wise one, so leaves Old Knebworth for Rabley heath and Codicote. This was chosen to avoid some repetition of the walk to Welwyn Garden City, SWC340, and to see the bits that are duplicated from a different perspective.

Lunch is had in Whitwell, alongside the Hertfordshire Way, and shortly after the walker is passing through the grounds of the Queen Mother's childhood home, St Paul's Walden Bury.

Then, there's a section of woodland walking before crossing the grounds of Knebworth House, and so back to the station.

Another decent walk in Hertfordshire, with decent paths and quiet lanes. Some opportunities for Bluebells, in season, though not this year; unfortunately, the countryside is closed at this walker's favourite time of the year! Good luck to you all!
