This walk is now completely revised, coming with more detailed info and also with walk directions for the first time.

The original Centenary Walk has been taken over recently by a more activist charity, changed in course and been renamed as the Big Walk.

As it still caters to a very large group attending their annual running of the walk, the route does not necessarily cater to the SWC's needs and wants.

Our route thus is only 'inspired' by the Centenary/Big Walk, leading from station to station and using alternative paths where they are more attractive than the broad and straight ones needed for a group of 100+. The Big Walk is shown as an 'option' (the red line on the route map).

I did this walk yesterday and really enjoyed it. The forest is ancient and beautiful. I ended in Manor Park and was struck by how other worldly the Wanstead flats are - and surprisingly rugged. Pit stop at the Golden Fleece! Really easy to get back to Liverpool Street from Manor Park.
