SWC Free Walk 43, Whyteleaf Circular. 9/10/11.amib, Oct-11
Just 30 minutes from London, and still in zone 6, this 13.5 mile walk makes a great day out if you don't want to travel too far, though as a result, you're never too far from 'suburbia'.
From Whyteleaf station , the walker is soon climbing to enjoy the views from Riddlesdown; shortly after, there's some woodland walking through King's Wood before lunch at Selsdon Common.
Thereafter, it's back through King's Wood before reaching possibly the best views of the day at Halliloo Valley. From here, there's some road walking prior to reaching Whyteleaf South station.
Not a bad walk for a location still within the Travel Card zonal system, though a little too urban for this walker's liking.
(Some minor wind interference).
