swcwalks, book1, walk30, Wivenhoe Circular. 19/8/23amib, Aug-23
An update of a walk last undertaken in 2009, and filmed on the mobile. It comprises two loops that involve a ferry crossing, making for an usual, but varied 9.8 miles.
The stars were in alignment today (save a fairly strong south-westerly breeze, which can be heard on commentary, though not too badly).
The ferry was taken early on to complete the Rowhedge side first, in a clock-wise direction. Lunch was had at St Andrew's church, Fingrinhoe, though a pub option exists near by.
Catching the ferry back to Wivenhoe, the next section is done in an anti-clockwise direction with contrasting scenery, ultimately ending back at Wivenhoe station.
For the most part, and logistical reasons, the GPX track was followed, with no issues. The paths were good this afternoon, and there were no issues other than care needed alongside the busy Mersea road on Rowhedge and some low hedges on the John Brunning Walk.
An excellent, varied walk that is well worth the essential planning.
(The Egrets are 'great', not 'giant' and the Oystercatcher 'heard' is, in fact, believed to be a Curlew. Contactless payments now accepted on the ferry).

Time Out Walks, Book 1, Walk 30, Wivenhoe Round Walk. 6/9/09.amib, Feb-11
An interesting 8.7 mile walk in Essex that involves a ferry crossing over the Colne. This means that the walk is only really possible at weekends and Bank Holiday Mondays between Easter and the end of October when the ferry operates.
(Mobile phone quality).
